Non ABS wheels

My brother is planning to use non ABS wheels on a bike which has ABS. Is it correct that the check engine light or ABS warning lights come on or flash? I also want to make sure that it is safe for him to ride this bike should he make any changes since the wheels won't have the sensor rings? thanks everyone!

Yes, removing ABS sensor rings usually triggers the ABS warning light or check engine light and riding without ABS functionality can reduce safety, so it's not recommended unless he fully understands the risks involved

I would second what @GulfBoy said.
It's also a definite downgrade for safety!
He'll lose the anti-lock braking function entirely, and it could also affect other systems that integrate with the ABS, like traction control if the bike has it.
While the brakes will still physically work, sudden hard braking could easily lead to a lock-up, which is precisely what ABS is designed to prevent.
It significantly increases the risk of a skid and a fall, so I wouldn't take that risk.
