help resetting engine warning light on Yamaha YZF-R3

I just worked on my Yamaha YZF-R3 and had to disconnect the airbox and injectors. Now, after putting everything back together, the engine warning light is on and it won't turn off, even though the bike runs just fine.

I've ordered an OBD2 tool to clear the code, but I'm wondering if anyone else has faced this issue or if there are other ways to reset the light without needing extra tools? Any tips would be great!

No worries, man, that's totally normal! When you're fiddling with stuff like the airbox or injectors on your R3, the bike's computer sees a connection drop and just flips out, throwing that engine light. Even if you plug everything back in perfectly and the bike runs awesome, it still remembers that little moment of panic.

Your OBD2 tool is gonna be your best buddy. Seriously, you're on the right path! That scanner you ordered is the absolute easiest way to just wipe those stored codes clean. Once it shows up, just plug it in, hit clear, and that light should vanish. It's usually a quick fix for these "ghost" codes

I've been there. Sometimes, the ECU just needs a little reset after messing with injectors or the airbox. Try turning off the battery for a few minutes. You might even want to do a full shutoff with key out and hold the start button for a bit. If that doesn't work, your OBD2 tool will be the MVP.

Nice, ordering the OBD2 tool, that's honestly the cleanest way to reset it, some people say disconnecting the battery for a while can clear it, but that doesn't always work on the R3, plus, if there's still a stored code, it'll just come back, in my opinon as long as the bike's running smooth and there's no weird behavior, you're probably good—just wait for the scanner and clear it properly

I had the same thing happen after cleaning the throttle body on my old R3. I forgot to fully plug in a sensor which turned on the engine light. The bike was fine, but the ECU held onto that code. I tried resetting the battery, but it didn't work. You're spot on, once the scanner came, one click and the light was gone. You're doing the right thing waiting on that OBD2 tool, it's the easiest way to clear the error
