Michigan R3 owners, selling a 2020 with no title. Options?

I don't know where to post this here, but figured I'd throw it out in hopes someone's dealt with something similar. Here's the deal. I've got a 2020 Yamaha R3 my cousin left in my garage in Grand Rapids before going overseas. It's registered to him, we've got the bill of sale but the title was lost years ago and the replacement never came through. I'm thinking of selling it as-is but unsure how that flies here in Michigan. Has anyone run into trouble with buyers backing out due to paperwork?

just want you to know that selling a vehicle in Michigan (or pretty much anywhere) without a title is a huge red flag for most buyers.
Even with a bill of sale, many people will back out because they can't legally register it in their name. You'll likely scare off anyone legitimate

That's a tricky situation. Most buyers won't want it without a title since it's harder to register. Someone might buy it to fix or use for parts, but they'll probably offer less money. Can your cousin ask for a replacement title online from the Secretary of State?
 
I figured the no-title thing would be a deal breaker for most, just wasn't sure how strict Michigan was. I'll reach out to my cousin and see if he can request a replacement online, even from overseas. If that works, I'll hold off listing it until we've got the paperwork sorted, which might take a few weeks. If not, I'll probably just part it out or sell it cheap to someone who doesn't mind the hassle.
