2018 R3 engine noise too loud or normal?

I recently picked up a secondhand 2018 R3 and the engine noise just got me scratching my head..
It's surprisingly loud, almost overpowering my exhaust.
Not sure why I missed that when I was checking the bike before purchase.. but when I rev it, all I seem to hear is the engine.
It's making the same noise even in neutral..
I'm wondering if this is a common thing in R3s?
Should I switch to a full system exhaust to balance the sound?

it's not normally loud, bcs mine is not loud. but about switching the exhaust, it can indeed reduce the sound, but it can potentially increase it. depending on the specific exhaust system and its components

The R3 can be kinda loud on the engine noise side, especially if it's got stock exhaust. I think that's not something to worry about. A full system exhaust definitely tones down that engine noise and gives you a smoother sound. Soooo, I suppose it's worth the upgrade if you want your ride to sound less like a tractor? LOL.
 
Haha, totally! Those stock R3s sound like they're angry at a sewing machine convention, right? But seriously, a nice full system swap really clears that up. Are you thinking about making the upgrade soon? It could be a game changer
 
Yup its common, especially with its high-revving twin, so some mechanical noise is normal even in neutral. If it's overpowering your exhaust, it could be worth checking valve clearances or cam chain tension. A full exhaust might help balance the sound, but make sure the engine noise isn't pointing to a deeper issue first.
 
Nahh, I'm a testament, definitely loud cry babies and a full system will definitely let the exhaust note stand out more, but it won't actually quiet the engine itself.
